Spanish Horses
Our Stud
We breed Spanish Horses
We have been so immensely fortunate that, over millennia, horses have accepted to go hand in hand with us and journey with us along the same path. Nevertheless, this friendship has not been spontaneous nor immediate and, on mankind´s side, it has always had to be guided through our use of study and our learning so that equines would then be able to adapt to a sedentary existence. Afterwards they have adapted to the different tasks which we have deemed necessary for them (be it for; agricultural, transportation, military and sporting purposes, amongst many others). This process has partially succeeded thanks to selective breeding with which humans, through trial and error, have been able to create an oncoming generation of horses with enhanced qualities and virtues.
At Yeguada Monte Molatón, which we abbreviate as MOMO, we have set out to continue on this slow and difficult path. But each path has to serve to bring us closer to our goal, otherwise each crossroads would make us hesitate and move away from our path.
And what is that goal?
But before listing our selection criteria, we must comment on the limits that we have imposed on ourselves, that which is immovable; that from which we start and where we are headed, and which we must never abandon. These are the morphological criteria that identify the Purebred Spanish horse.

That said, our selection criteria are:
Character. We are looking for horses with a noble and docile character, that know how to interact with man and their fellows. This virtue will condition their capacity for subsequent training, both for their adaptation to any sporting discipline, as well as their behavior in the stable. Horses to which the coexistence with their peers is not a stress, and that perceive their caregivers and riders as friends.
Movements: Purebred Spanish Horses have always been the benchmark for Alta Escuela and Dressage. Therefore, breeders should also base their selection criteria on the suitability for sporting use in these disciplines.
Beauty. Both the character and the movement of a horse, although they are innate virtues, can be corrected and enhanced with dressage exercises. Beauty is always inherited and innate to the horse. The Purebred Spanish Horse must be, above all, beautiful. The perception of beauty is based on the balance of its proportions and the perfection of the shapes of its body parts. If we add the elegance of its movements and the goodness of its character to its majestic bearing, it is difficult to imagine a more beautiful animal.
We breed Spanish Horses; we breed beauty

Our stallions
Each year we select a series of stallions according to the criteria of coat, movement, character or racial fidelity established in our stud, as well as their suitability to the individual characteristics of each mare.
The objective in working with different sires is to achieve homogeneity of the offspring without common ancestry, i.e. not inbreeding.
All our stallions are qualified by ANCCE (Real Asociación Nacional de Criadores de Caballos Españoles). andalusian horse, spanish horse.
